To our cherished friends in Canada, Mexico, Mesoamerica, South America, across all of Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and to anyone who still considers us allies, I offer my deepest apologies for the events that unfolded in the Oval Office today. As an American, I am deeply ashamed of the way President Trump and Vice President Pence treated President Zelenskyy—a man of exceptional courage in the face of unimaginable challenges. I campaigned against President Trump, and I spoke out about Project 2025. But I didn’t do enough, and for that, I take responsibility for the role our nation played in bringing him to power, as well as the damage his leadership has caused to our relationships worldwide. The disrespect shown to Ukraine, a nation fighting a tyrant, is a stain on the reputation of the United States. That said, despite these dark moments, I believe in the strength of the bond we share—the strength we’ve always had together. We’re friends, and that is something I hope you never forget. The history we’ve written, flawed as it may be, is a testament to our resilience and hope. I apologize for the failure in leadership today, but I have faith in the American spirit—one of determination and self-correction. We all go through storms, and things may get worse before they get better. This is not the America I stand for, and I don’t believe it’s the America you expect. But I believe that the American people will come together and find a way to heal. We’ve been through a lot together—good times and bad. America will heal itself. I promise.
